P&G China Pioneer Program

•Background

- Environmental protection has been an important aspect of P&G’s sustainability strategy. P&G hoped to develop a brand-based environmental protection program to demonstrate that it highly values sustainable community development.

•CCIA’s services and results

- Planned and managed the “P&G China Pioneer Program,” the first corporate philanthropic project aiming at facilitating the healthy development of college environmental protection societies in China; built a cooperation platform that included the Ministry of Environmental Protection and key local hub-like organizations, and established a network where college societies could communicate with and learn from each other.

- So far, 89 societies from 59 universities in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and the Pearl River Delta regions have joined the network, which now serves around 20,000 students. Over the past three years, 117 college-initiated environmental protection projects have been funded. Thanks to the support of tutors and consultants, the project completion rate has achieved 98.29%.

- The program will expand to the Yangtze River Delta region and will bring in Tetra Pak and other companies and organizations that are also concerned about environmental protection. Together with the partners, the program will continue cultivating future environmental leaders.
